Tutoring

Timothy has extensive experience in tutoring across multiple year levels. Holding a Master of Teaching (Primary) as well as a PhD in English Literature, Timothy is extremely well-suited to providing students of all levels with a solid grounding in the foundations of reading and writing.

Timothy’s work in educational publishing has also provided him with key insights into meeting assessment criteria. He has also written several guides to curriculum texts for VCE students, an experience which has given him the capacity to explain the ‘nuts and bolts’ of each text.

Timothy has experience working one-on-one and in classes with students of a variety of ages. From teaching reading techniques to students to disabilities to tutoring university short courses on clear expression, Timothy is an experienced, attentive and knowledgeable guide through the various challenges. As a skilled journalist and editor, Timothy is adept at coaching students in improving the clarity of their expression and argumentation.

This practical educational experience has honed Timothy’s ability to assist students in working productively with the school curriculum, including preparing for exams and offering detailed feedback on essay drafts. By responding in detail to each student’s level and unique learning style, Timothy is able to offer a tailored approach to learning that carefully brings out each student’s unique strengths.
